ROAD REPORT -Thurs, Mar 26th, 7:20pm

Thurs, Mar 26th, 7:20pm - ROAD REPORT: Hello, SLE. The Road Crew continued bringing in asphalt today.

In two days, our guys trucked-in 2,300 yards of material. That was 50+ loads yesterday (Wed 3/25) on the high-traffic entrances at CDA and St. Joe, and today (Thurs 3/26) another 50+ on Liberty and lower Hayden. That is the most material we’ve ever brought in on a project.

While that’s it for material, more grading and rolling will be done now through Sun to fine-tune the asphalt and continue spring cleanup.

Again, this project was made possible through negotiations with Scarsella, the civil construction co. heading up the Highway 54 job, and asphalt grindings being so close. So, we paid them $3K for the material and grabbed as much and as quickly as we could from the agreed upon pile.

Given the runs were quick from just down the street, we were able to maximize trucking costs, and labor. We are in conversations with Scarsella to work a similar deal for pickup of more material in the fall for winter prep when they break up the rest of Highway 54 near SLE.

As mentioned previously, the roller got to as many areas as possible yesterday, and broke down this morning the bigger chunks that had to be left on St. Joe last night. The crew is all caught up now.

Again, use caution around our grader and roller through this Sun (3/29). Also, please drive slow on these roads to keep them in good shape for as long possible. Speeds are already picking up without thought to preserving our roads or the work done.

Going 15mph vs 20 makes a huge difference. Please talk to your kids.

Thanks again for your patience as our crew has been working both the asphalt project and spring cleanup all at once. Reminder: will be grading AND rolling Tahoe, Priest River, and possibly other roads this weekend.

We haven’t forgotten you.

As always, feel free to email me with questions at roads@spiritlakeeast.org. But please read the reports before emailing as your question may have already been answered. If you don’t want to sift through them on social media, they are all right here: https://www.spiritlakeeast.org/blog

Thanks again for your patience and understanding. Have a nice night.
