Sat, Oct 10th, 7:20am - UPDATE: Heads-up, the guys are still paving today on Hwy 54. A pilot car will be involved, and is at the entrance of CDA, will wave you by or lead you out, so follow their lead. Roll down your window and ask if you’re good to go. Enjoy your Saturday.
Fri, Oct 9th, 5:15pm - UPDATE: CDA is open again, but Hwy 54 is still down to one lane, you have to wait for the pilot car. Keep you posted on final work on our entrances that will be taking place in the upcoming weeks. Have a great weekend.
Fri, Oct 9th, 1:55pm - UPDATE: Scarsella has been working their way down to us all day. I’m sure you’ve heard the equipment. As of 1:45pm, CDA is blocked, cones are up, please use alternate routes. See map link in comments. Thanks for noting and keep you posted.
Thurs, Oct 8th, 9pm - Good evening SLE. Per Idaho Transportation Department (ITD), tomorrow (Friday, Oct 9th), Highway 54 contractor, Scarsella, will be paving in front of the CDA entrance.
They don’t yet know if work will be done in the morning or afternoon or towards end-of-day. We will post here updates as we know more. For now, plan to use alternate routes, if you don’t have time to check.
See link to the SLE map below.
Also, regarding the grading and asphalt project: Scarsella is still in the process of trucking-out what grindings they need now (and want to keep for later).
So, as soon as they’re done, we’ll be able to move forward with materials distribution including free grading on the high-traffic areas mentioned previously such as Liberty, Hayden, St. Joe and CDA, plus grading on other roads including Fernan.
Reminder: We are holding on doing this all in one project to stay on our small budget given rising costs of fuel and insurance.
If we don’t group this work into projects then we cannot afford the quality (and volume) of rock and asphalt that the majority of our community wants to see on our roads, even with negotiated discount.
Thanks again for your patience and understanding.
Also, please slow down. It’s enough to contend with the impact (and related costs) of weather on our unpaved roads. Speed too does a lot of damage and the cost is passed onto all of us.
Have a nice night and drive safe.
